Affirmations are such a powerful tool to help you change your way of thinking. Negative self-talk is so debilitating because as Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right!”
We all have negative self-talk going on in our head at some point or another. I want to teach you how to reprogram this negative self-talk and clear out all of the false beliefs that have been collected from parents, relatives, friends, teachers, television, music, books, movies, life experiences, etc.
Some examples of negative self-talk might be:
- I can’t do that.
- I am so fat.
- I have problems with relationships.
- I do everything wrong.
- I’m not good enough.
Affirmations are simply positive self-talk in the present tense. It is a statement that you read or say to yourself that is phrased in the present tense as if it is already true. You can make it even more believable when you put it in the form of a question.
Here is a 3-step process to change your way of thinking:
Step 1:
Get out a piece of paper and write down negative self-talk that you have noticed. You may want to do this over several days and write things down as you notice you are saying them to yourself. This is really eye opening to see how often we do it.
Step 2:
Change all of the negative self-talk into positive affirmations. Example: I can’t do that. Why is it so easy for me to do that? I am so fat. Why is it so easy for me to be at my ideal size and weight? I’m not good enough. Why is it so easy for me to be the person I want to be? After you have written down all of the positives, then you can go ahead and rip up the negatives and burn them if you want!
Step 3:
Repeat these positive affirmations to yourself both morning and night. Another thing that I like to add here is to tell yourself, “I love you!!” We need to first start with loving ourselves if we want other people to love us. Napoleon Hill wrote, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Start today!! You are an amazing person!! I believe in you!!
Daily Affirmations:
Good things always happen to me.
I am loved because I was born.
My future is safe.
I am living my purpose and thriving.
I have all the positive power I need to take charge of my life.
